Free Alt-Text Health Score

Paste any page of your website. In seconds for most pages, and up to a minute for pages built with JavaScript, you will see how many of its pictures say nothing to a blind visitor, whose phone or computer reads the page aloud. That software is called a screen reader. You can hear what the page says now, and what it would say once the pictures are described. No sign-up. Nothing on your site is changed.

We only read the page's HTML to find images. We never alter your website.

NarraSight writes the descriptions into your CMS, or hands you the text as a file you keep. Never a runtime overlay. The score itself: missing or junk alt text (filenames, placeholders, labels like “image”) scores nothing, alt text that is present but weak scores half, and alt text that says what the image shows scores in full, against WCAG 2.2 SC 1.1.1. For a sample of images an AI model also reads the picture itself and checks the alt text against it, and where the text falls short you see the alt NarraSight would write instead. Every result also says what this page would score once the flagged images are described, which is the same arithmetic run forwards rather than a forecast. The full method, and everything the score does not claim, is set out on the How the score works page, linked in the footer below.

What the check covers

Every image on the page, judged for what a screen reader gets

Missing alt text

Images with no alt attribute at all: a screen reader says nothing useful, often just the file name, and image search has nothing to go on.

Poor or generic alt text

Filenames, placeholders, marketing filler, text copy-pasted across images, or text unrelated to the page it sits on.

The rewrite we would ship

For the worst images, the description NarraSight would write instead, in the page's own subject and tone, checked against the picture itself.

What happens next

Here is what to expect after you press the button

  1. Your result, in seconds

The score, the grade, what a blind visitor gets from the page today, and the images to fix first.

  2. The full fix list, by email

Leave your email and every flagged image opens, each with the description NarraSight would write, with the report sent to you to keep.

  3. NarraSight writes it back

The platform describes the images on your site in context, holds anything uncertain for review, and writes approved alt text into your CMS with a record of every change. Ask about a pilot if you would like it run on your own site.
